Is Typeform Free? The Free Plan's Limits in 2026

Typeform's Free plan gives you 10 responses a month across all your forms, then they go private. What it includes, what it leaves out, and free options.

Marian Leonte, founder9 min read

Yes, Typeform has a Free plan, and it costs nothing. But it collects 10 responses a month, in total, across every form on your account. When you reach 10, your forms go private until the next month starts or you pay. That is the short answer, and for a lot of people searching "is Typeform free" it is the only part that matters.

This article goes through the rest: what happens at the limit, what the Free plan includes, what it leaves out (several of the missing pieces matter a lot if you run ads), how to try paid features without paying, and what the free options look like elsewhere. Everything about Typeform here was checked on 10 October 2026 on Typeform's own pricing page and help centre, and each fact links to where we read it. Formglide is our product and it appears near the end, so read that part knowing I have a stake in it.

The short answer: free, with a 10 response cap

Typeform's help centre describes the Free plan as "10 responses/month" and spells out what that means: "you can collect 10 unique submissions in total from your forms with your free account, every month" (Typeform help centre: Free plan, checked 10 October 2026).

Three details are easy to miss:

  • The 10 is per account, not per form. Typeform's response limits apply "across all forms in your account" (Typeform help centre: Response limits, checked 10 October 2026). Five forms on a Free account share the same 10.
  • Unused responses don't roll over. The limit resets every month, and you can't carry over what you didn't use (same page).
  • The pricing page doesn't show it. typeform.com/pricing has no Free plan card. The only mention we found on 10 October 2026 was a line near the bottom: "Still undecided? Try our Free plan then upgrade when you're ready" (typeform.com/pricing). The number lives in the help centre.

If you have read elsewhere that Typeform's free plan gives 100 responses a month, that figure is out of date. 100 a month is what the paid Basic plan includes today.

One more caveat, in Typeform's own words: the Free plan page says Typeform sometimes experiments with its pricing plans and is "experimenting now", so what you see in your account may differ from the help page. If your account shows something different, your account wins.

What happens when you reach 10 responses

Typeform emails you, and shows a notice in your account, at 90% and at 100% of your limit. At 100%, "your forms will go into Private mode". They become public again "when the next month begins or when you upgrade your account" (Typeform help centre: Response limits, checked 10 October 2026). Anyone who opens the form while it is private sees a message instead of your questions.

Two things follow from that:

  • Deleting responses doesn't give them back. The same page says a deleted response "will still count towards your limit for that month". If test submissions or junk used up your 10, deleting them won't reopen your form.
  • Spam counts too. Typeform's spam protection (invisible reCAPTCHA) is "available on Plus and higher plans" (Typeform help centre: Spam prevention, checked 10 October 2026). The Free plan doesn't have it, so a few bot submissions use up the same 10 slots as real people. We wrote about bots eating Typeform's response quota in more detail.

At 10 a month, the cap is the whole story for anyone sending paid traffic. If you pay for clicks to a Free Typeform, the form can go private a few hours into a campaign while the ads keep running and keep spending.

What the Free plan includes

To be fair to Typeform, the Free plan is not a stripped-down demo. According to its help centre, a Free account gets (Typeform help centre: Free plan, checked 10 October 2026):

  • Unlimited typeforms. You can build as many forms as you like. Only the responses are capped.
  • Logic. Branching, calculations, scores and variables, so you can show different questions based on answers.
  • URL parameters, to pass information about a respondent into the form through its link.
  • Custom endings, including several endings for different outcomes.
  • Embedding on your own website.
  • Downloading your results as a spreadsheet.
  • Basic reports in the Results panel. Drop-off rates are not included; the help page says they start on the Business plan.
  • Typeform AI, the chatbot that builds a form from a description.
  • Most question types, including email, phone number, multiple choice, dropdown, rating, NPS, matrix, ranking and date.
  • Some integrations. The help page names Calendly, Zapier, Google Sheets, Slack, Mailchimp and Airtable, among others.

For a personal project, a class survey or a quick poll of friends, that is a generous toolkit. The design is good and the one-question-at-a-time format is pleasant to fill in.

What the Free plan leaves out

The same help page lists the features that are only on paid plans. The full list is long; these are the ones that matter most if you collect leads (Typeform help centre: Free plan, checked 10 October 2026):

Missing on Free Why it matters for lead forms
Meta Pixel, Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager integrations Your ad platform can't see which clicks turned into leads
Redirect to a URL or web page after submit You can't send people to your own thank-you page, where many advertisers fire their conversion tag
Spam protection with reCAPTCHA Bot submissions count against your 10 responses
Prevent duplicate responses One person can use up several of your 10
Partial responses You only see people who finished, not where the rest stopped
Question drop-off analysis You can't see which question loses people
File upload and payment questions You can test them, but not publish a form that uses them
Remove Typeform branding, brand logo, custom domains The form looks like Typeform's, not yours
Follow-up emails, lead scoring and lead routing No automatic reply to the lead, and no way to sort good leads from weak ones
Team collaboration and multiple users One person per account

One oddity worth knowing: the page names HubSpot and Pipedrive among the Free plan's integrations, and also among the "paid-only integrations beyond Free". If either of those is the reason you are choosing a plan, check it in your own account before you build around it.

Put together, the Free plan can collect a handful of leads, but it can't tell Meta or Google that they happened. For anyone running ads, the tracking gap matters as much as the cap. Our guide to the Meta Conversions API and the Pixel for lead forms explains why that signal matters.

Can you try Typeform's paid features for free?

Partly. The Free plan help page answers this directly: you can try many paid features on a Free account, and when you do, "your form will be put into trial mode". You can build and test with them, but to share a form that uses them you need to upgrade. Integrations that are only on paid plans can't be tested this way (all from Typeform help centre: Free plan, checked 10 October 2026).

There is also a time-limited trial on one plan. On 10 October 2026 the pricing page offered Growth Flow with "Try free for 14 days", and the card says "Credit card required" (typeform.com/pricing). We didn't see a free trial offered on the Basic, Plus or Business cards.

If you upgrade and later go back to Free, the help page says you keep paid access until the end of the period you paid for, your forms and collected responses aren't deleted, and forms that use paid features go into trial mode again.

What the next step up costs

The cheapest way past 10 responses is Basic. On 10 October 2026, typeform.com/pricing showed these plan cards to us, in US dollars (typeform.com/pricing):

Plan Monthly Billed yearly (per month) Responses a month Users
Free $0 - 10 (help centre, not on the pricing page) 1
Basic $39 $28 100 1
Plus $79 $56 1,000 3
Business $129 $91 10,000 5

Two notes on that table. First, the "Compare all plans" table further down the same page showed lower figures for the same plans on the day we checked, so the price you are offered at checkout may not match the cards. Second, Typeform shows prices in your local currency: when we checked on 3 October 2026 from the UK we were shown euros. Our Typeform pricing breakdown for 2026 has the euro prices, the cost per response on each plan, and the auto-upgrade setting that is switched on by default when you buy.

Remember that Basic, at 100 responses a month, still has no spam protection. Spam protection starts on Plus (Typeform help centre: Spam prevention, checked 10 October 2026).

When Typeform's Free plan is enough

It is enough when you need fewer than 10 answers a month and you don't need to track where they came from. A sign-up form for a small private event, feedback from a few clients, a test of how a form looks before you commit to a paid plan: all fine.

It is not enough the moment money is spent to bring people to the form. Paid traffic needs room above the expected volume, a way to send the conversion back to the ad platform, and protection from bots. The Free plan has none of the three.

Free form builders that don't stop at 10

If a free plan is what you want, some form builders are far more generous. A quick comparison, with the date each was checked:

Tool Free plan What happens at the limit Checked
Typeform 10 responses a month, all forms combined Forms go private until next month or an upgrade 10 Oct 2026
Tally Unlimited forms, unlimited submissions No submission limit stated 10 Oct 2026
Fillout 1,000 responses a month Not verified Sept 2026
Jotform 100 submissions a month Not verified Sept 2026
Formglide Unlimited forms, 500 responses a month Form keeps working; extra responses are stored and unlocked when you upgrade 10 Oct 2026 (our own plan)

Tally is the most generous free plan we know of: its pricing page lists "Unlimited forms" and "Unlimited submissions" on Free (tally.so/pricing, checked 10 October 2026). Meta Pixel and Google Analytics are on its paid Pro plan, so the tracking gap is the same as Typeform's on a free account.

Formglide, our product, gives you unlimited forms and a 500-response monthly quota on the Free plan. It is a soft quota: go over it and the form keeps taking responses, which are stored and unlocked when you upgrade, so a busy week never takes the form offline. Every plan, Free included, has Cloudflare Turnstile bot protection, conditional logic and scoring, UTM and hidden-field capture on every submission, and free CSV export. To be clear about the limits: the Meta Pixel, the server-side Conversions API, GA4 events and A/B testing are on Pro, at £29 a month. Full details are on the Formglide pricing page.

For a wider comparison, including paid plans and which tools send conversions to Meta from the server, see Typeform alternatives, free and paid, for lead gen and ads.

How we checked

On 10 October 2026 we read Typeform's pricing page and three help centre articles (Free plan, Response limits and Spam prevention), and Tally's pricing page. The Typeform prices above are the plan cards as they were shown to us that day, in US dollars. Fillout and Jotform figures come from our September 2026 research and were not re-checked for this article. Typeform says it experiments with its plans, so check the current limits in your own account before you rely on them, and if you spot something out of date, email hello@formglide.io and we will fix it.
